Thursday Night Football games will remain on Amazon for the next two seasons.

Last year was the first year NFL fans could stream games on Amazon. Twitter held the streaming rights to Thursday Night Football the year prior but Amazon committed $50 million to secure the rights and it was a rousing success.

In fact, it worked out so well for Amazon and the NFL that the two agreed to keep this thing going. Amazon and the NFL renewed their pact for two more seasons, meaning you can stream Thursday Night Football games on Amazon through the 2019 season.

Prior to the renewal, there had been chatter that the NFL wanted a multi-year agreement with the streamer.

After that time, it’ll be determined if Amazon wants to stay in business with the NFL or if they’ll choose to spend their money in a different direction. But I think if it’s going to continue to be worth the investment and Amazon can prop up some of their other programs and services in the process, it’ll be a win-win for all parties involved.

Amazon will stream 11 Thursday Night Football games, beginning on Sept. 27 with the Los Angeles Rams welcome the Minnesota Vikings to town in a matchup of two Super Bowl contenders.

In addition to Prime viewers, Twitch viewers will also be able to watch the 11 NFL games this year, which is all about enhancing the experience and brand enhancement for Amazon.

"“Amazon was a tremendous partner for Thursday Night Football in 2017 and as we continue our mission of delivering NFL games to fans whether they watch on television or on digital platforms, we are excited to work with them again for the next two seasons,” said Brian Rolapp, Chief Media and Business Officer for the NFL, via NFL.com."

This is an exciting time for Amazon with big new shows like Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and the Lord of the Rings series, but also because the NFL is the best reality show around.

The Thursday Night Football schedule for Amazon begins in Week 4 and games begin at 8:20 p.m. ET.
