Sneaky Pete season 2 finale reactions and grade: The Switch

Recapping the wild season 2 finale of Sneaky Pete and what’s in store for season 3 on Amazon Prime Video.

After nine awesome episodes, we’ve arrived at the season 2 finale of Sneaky Pete where all the cards are on the table as Marius, Pete, Maggie and company try to pull off the great buffalo switch and escape with their lives, and possibly the money too.

Episode 9 left viewers with a pair of cliffhangers of varying degrees of suspense. First, Marjorie warns Audrey to stay as far away from the storage facility as possible. Second, Sam got shot in the back shielding Otto from the gunshots through the door from Colin’s girlfriend. He’s going to be okay though after the ambulance arrives. And Otto and Sam are even now since Otto saved his life in Vietnam.

All the action is centered on the casino and the buffalo. After the previous episode, they were able to get access. They put on a whole show but discover there’s no money in the buffalo and no money in the bags. In fact, Maggie pulled a fast one on them all and is back at the storage facility where the money was hidden inside the walls all this time unbeknownst to Luca.

With a threat against the family and the farmhouse, Audrey is on high alert. Pete was sent there to protect his family in case Luca’s men got there first, but Audrey finds him and handcuffs him thinking he could be up to something devious. Audrey thinks she’s so smart, but she doesn’t even realize that’s her grandson.

There’s another standoff outside the storage shed where Valerie and Julie are. Colin is trying to kill Valerie. And now Otto shows up with one of Dockery’s men, the same one who killed Colin’s dad in season 1. Otto tells Colin that news and the two scuffle and both end up killing each other. That’s one way to eliminate two problems.

Maggie is at the storage facility — because that’s where everyone is — and gets the money. Luca is holding Gina hostage after he finds out the money was right underneath his nose the entire time. The Buffalo was a con. Marius says Maggie’s vision is that he kills Luca.

This is where things get wild!

Frank shoots Luka. Then, Kwahu throws a hammer at Frank and pierces him in his chest and he’s dead. This was also a great throwback to an earlier scene where Dockery’s people were throwing hatchets at targets. This show is awesome. And now the FBI comes storming in before they can leave with the money. Marius is arrested. Maggie is cut loose.

But wait for it.

There’s a big twist and the FBI was in on it the whole time. They weren’t the real FBI but all a part of the con because Marius is the Michael Jordan of the long con. They got the money after all!

Oh, wait, no they didn’t. Maggie had the money and dropped a large chunk of it in Luka’s acid bathtub. A smaller score than everyone was expecting, but a score nonetheless and they all survived.

Now that this part of the storyline is accounted for, we can put the finishing touches on the supporting plot lines to put a bow on season 2.

Parting thoughts on Sneaky Pete season 2

• Lance gets Valerie to Canada.
• Maggie says goodbye to Audrey. Real Pete hugs Audrey goodbye too. It’s kinda sad he lost his family and they don’t even recognize him and Marius has replaced him.
• The tip on the gun Taylor placed in Colin’s house came through. The official word is that Winslow was killed by a dirty cop. Although Roby is highly suspicious that Taylor covered it up to protect his grandmother, and the door is open for them to get together in the future. And possibly start a relationship is Taylor and Shannon don’t work out.
• And Shannon isn’t leaving Sean for Taylor because she wants to “spy on him about Hartford” and Taylor is upset and devastated just when he thought he’d finally get the girl.
• Maggie left letters she had from her sister, Carly’s mom, behind for Carly to hear her mother’s voice. She knows Audrey’s been lying about her parent’s death.

Marius and the Family

Marius tells Marjorie he’s not burned with the family. She wants him to go back and admit he likes them. But before he can do that, he has to call Julia to explain a few things about his behavior and what’s been going on. He really likes her. But she thinks he’s her cousin so that’s the furthest thing from her mind. But what is on her mind is trying to get some answers herself. Julia meets with Bagwell to find out who Marius really is. Julia is going to find out the person she thinks is her cousin Pete, is actually Marius Josipovic. That’ll be an explosive season 3 premiere. The final scene of Sneaky Pete season 3 sees Marius driving but we can’t quite tell where he’s driving toward. Is he driving back to the farmhouse? Or is he driving to someplace he can run his next con?

I think he’s driving back to the farmhouse.
