Sneaky Pete season 2, episode 7 reactions and grade: The Reluctant Taxidermist

Here’s everything you need to know about episode 7 of Sneaky Pete season 2 and what it means for Marius, Pete and Maggie moving forward.

We’re headed down the final stretch of Sneaky Pete season 2 with Maggie and Marius trying to keep alive while Luca is trying to recover the $11 million she stole from him. Maggie shares the story about what happened in the storage facility when Reggie and her stole the money. Maggie says Reggie stashed the money inside a taxidermied buffalo. Marius tells Luca the FBI is after him and wants him to get his money. Marius cons him into saying he’ll get his money for him.

But that’s not the only circus in town in this episode as Julia finally makes the decision to bond out Victoria so Luis will launder the money Dockery is pressuring her to clean. She doesn’t want to do this but she knows she kinda has no choice in the matter. Victoria, meanwhile, tries to make a run for it because she thinks Luis only wanted her out of jail so he can have his goons kill her because she stole from him.

Everybody is stealing from everybody!

As a measure to protect her, but really feels like a default prison, Julia stashes Victoria inside one of Luca’s storage sheds. I swear I haven’t seen a show with this much to do with storage shelters, including Storage Wars!

Back to the case of the literally stuffed buffalo. Marius recruits a reluctant Gina to distract real Pete who was watching the Buffalo at the casino. Sneaky Pete has turned into Oceans Eleven and I’m here for it!

At the casino, Marius pretends to be a taxidermy expert and tells the casino bosses the buffalo is infested with beetle larvae and if they don’t fumigate immediately, the value of the buffalo will be destroyed. The con seems to be working because they get the fumigation tent and Marius is all set to carve this thing up and get the cash inside.

But, then Maggie and Pete show up and the whole mission gets thrown to the wayside and now the buffalo has been moved to the middle of the casino. If they’re going to get inside this thing, they’re going to have to step up their con game.

Elsewhere on Sneaky Pete 207

Outside the casino, Otto and Sam meet Luis, but he won’t help them get Moe’s Irish proclamation of war back. They’ll find it themselves.

Maggie summons her dead sister for Carly through the screwdriver she used to start her car for an entire summer. Carly wants to hear her mom’s voice. I feel for this poor young soul who misses her parents so much and has a crazy family who isn’t really seeing her need to connect.

Taylor says he’s looking for a watch in the water underneath the bridge. In truth, he was really looking for the gun that killed Winslow. A mysterious stranger, who may have been a homeless person, found it, and he’s not about to give it up. But Taylor may have an ace up his sleeve he hasn’t played yet.

Overall, this episode didn’t really reveal a great deal. It’s continuing to set up the mission to retrieve Luca’s money. Marius wants it for himself. Maggie wants to give it to Luca. Somehow, I have a feeling neither of them is going to get what they want in the end.
