Sneaky Pete season 2 is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and is your next binge-watch obsession.

Run, don’t walk to your TV, tablet or phone to start streaming the new season of Sneaky Pete on Amazon. The crime series starring Giovanni Ribisi is must-see TV and build on the success of the first season. Sneaky Pete is the best drama on Amazon and one of the best crime shows since Breaking Bad. The second season should garner serious consideration from the Emmys, especially for Ribisi as the brilliantly deceptive and persuasive con man Marius Josipovic.

Sneaky Pete season 2 spoiler-free review

Season 1 left off with Marius ready to skip town after his successful con before he was abducted by two men wanting him to lead them to Pete’s mom. She stole $11 million from them and they’re coming to collect.

Audrey is feeling guilty about covering up her role in officer Winslow’s death.

Otto is still alive after the “house painter” he hired to kill him was killed before he could kill him.

Julia saved Lance by making a deal with Dockery to launder his money.

Taylor is having an affair with Shannon who is married to Sean, the owner of the rival bond business in town.

Carly was suspicious of her cousin Pete and wonders how “Marius Josipovic” could be involved in all this family drama.

All the suspense is amplified in season 2 with Marius trying to track down Pete’s mom. If he can’t find her in 72 hours and pay back the $11 million, Joe and Frank, the two hired mercenaries, are going to start killing off his pretend family, beginning with Julia.

Marius relies on Marjorie, played by the always-awesome Alison Wright, and one of my favorite characters on the show, to get as much intel on her whereabouts while the clock is ticking. The accelerated timeline makes the show a perfect binge-watch. When you watch, make sure you have time to watch at least the first three-four episodes. The tension builds with each scene and each episode ends with a cliffhanger so you can’t walk away after one episode.

When I’m watching, I keep wondering if this is the moment the other shoe drops or if this is the scene Marius’ cover is blown or he’s in too deep and he ends up dead. In many ways, that’s how I felt watching the early seasons of Breaking Bad.

That’s a huge comparison to one of the best dramas in the peak era of prestige TV.Perhaps that’s the influence of Bryan Cranston as an executive producer. How long can this anti-hero keep his cover before the relationships he’s forged with this family is burned?

I can barely keep my breath when watching Sneaky Pete. It’s an adrenaline rush and impossible to walk away from. More people need to watch this show and I think if it was on CBS or AMC, it would be one of the biggest shows on TV.

It’s masterfully written and the actors are so exceptional in executing the words on the script. Margo Martindale, Marin Ireland, Shane McRae, Libe Barer, Peter Gerety, Wright and Ribisi all deserve a standing ovation.

Marius is easy to root for and you care so much about him and then you remember he’s a con man, and that’s when you realize you’ve been conned yourself. If Ribisi doesn’t get an Emmy nomination this year, a grave injustice will have taken place.
