Amazon has ordered up a second season of the horror anthology series Lore.

If you thought the first season of Lore was a fascinating watch, then you’re in luck because Amazon has ordered a second season of the horror anthology series. The renewal of the series based on the popular podcast by Aaron Mahnke is one of the first announcements for Amazon Studios under new studio head Jennifer Salke. The new studio boss previously ordered a fifth season of Bosch and canceled other Originals, One Mississippi, I Love Dick and Jean Claude-Van Johnson.

Lore focuses on modern myths and urban legends and their origin told through a hybrid documentary-series format that makes for a truly unique and intriguing viewing experience. If you’re a fan of horror movies and the macabre, this is a show that you’ll definitely want to add to your watchlist and check out, because you’re not going to find anything quite like it, outside of the podcast of which inspired the show.

Season 2 of Lore will also have a new direction as Sean Crouch, who previously worked on The Exorcist and Numbers at Fox and CBS, respectively has signed on as the showrunner. Naturally, if you’re a fan of either of those shows, you’ll want to see what his presence and influence means for the upcoming season that begins production in April.

"“Customers loved the first season of Lore for its unique blend of narrative and documentary storytelling, and we’re excited to give them another season of this suspenseful hybrid series,” said Heather Schuster, Amazon’s head of unscripted. “Sean brings great experience in the supernatural genre, and we’re excited for him to help us tell even more frightening and visually captivating stories.”"

Have you watched the first season of Lore? What did you think of the format? It’s not your average show, so I’m curious to hear the opinions and thoughts on the show from people other than me. I’m not the bigger horror fan in the world, but I do find the show to be interesting and engaging enough that I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season.

We don’t have a release date yet for Lore season 2, but it’s probably going to be unveiled in the late fall or early winter months on Amazon Prime Video. As soon as we get more information and a release date, I’ll be sure to pass along that information.
