Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan gets August release date on Amazon Prime Video

Mark your calendars for the release of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski, coming exclusively to Amazon Prime Video in August.

One of the best new shows coming to Amazon Prime Video finally has a release date. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski as the CIA agent will be released on Aug. 31 on Prime Video. The release date was revealed in a Super Bowl commercial that featured another new teaser for the action series.

I was hoping the show would come out in the spring, maybe sometime in April after Mozart in the Jungle’s new season and before new seasons of Bosch and Transparent later in the summer and fall. So while August is a little bit longer of a wait, I’m just thrilled to finally have a date locked in for what I think is going to be an awesome new show.

This is one of the first new shows for Amazon that will debut in 2018 under new leadership and under new direction to find shows that appeal to a larger audience and demographic. The casting of Krasinski should help ensure that fans who loved his portrayal of Jim on The Office tune in. And then, of course, there’s the built-in audience that has loved the character from Clancy’s books and to movie iterations that saw actors like Harrison Ford, Alex Baldwin, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine play the role of the CIA operative.

Needless to say, Amazon is hopeful this will be as good as I’ve hyped it up to be.

If you need further confirmation about how great this show can be, check out the first three teasers below. The first teaser is the Super Bowl commercial that will air during the game on Sunday, Feb. 4, but you don’t have to wait until then.

See, I told you this show was going to be great.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is co-created by Lost producer Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland and co-stars Wendell Pierce, Abbie Cornish, Ali Suliman and Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez.
