When will The Greatest Showman be on Amazon Video/Blu-ray/DVD?

Here’s when movie fans can expect to see The Greatest Showman, starring the talented Hugh Jackman, on Amazon Video, Blu-ray and DVD.

The Greatest Showman feels like it was made with Hugh Jackman in mind to play the role of P.T. Barnum. The multi-talented actor stars in the musical from screenplay writers Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon and directed by Michael Gracey in the movie that could be this year’s version of La La Land.

In the movie, Jackman’s character takes the viewers on an adventure through the rise of show business and his vision for the circus that would feature his name. It’s a coming of age story to show how one man became a visionary and sensation across the world. And the cast is fantastic with Michelle Williams, Zendaya and Zac Efron rounding out the cast opposite Jackman.

Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron in the same movie is sure to attract many fans to the movie theater. However, considering it’s brutally cold for much of the country at this time, there could be many would-be-movie-goers electing to wait until The Greatest Showman is available for them to watch from the comfort of their own home.

I’m one of the movie fans who falls into that category. Sure, I’ll make it out to the movie theater to see a movie or two a year, but I prefer to watch movies at home where I can control the environment and not have to worry about bumping elbows with some stranger sitting next to me or paying $8.50 for a medium popcorn.

If you’re like me, you can expect a three-four month delay until The Greatest Showman is released on Blu-ray and DVD. The movie will be on sale upon its release on Amazon, so make sure you pre-order or buy in the first week to save some cash. Because of the Dec. 20 theatrical release, that means fans will have to wait until April in all likelihood for the DVD/Blu-ray release.

But if you don’t need to have the hard copy in your hands to add to your movie collection, you can buy the movie on Amazon Video about one week before the release on DVD/Blu-ray. We project that to be late-March or early April.

Mind you, this is a projection based on the pattern movies are releases, but it’s a safe estimate to tide us over until we get the official release date. At the time we do get the official release date, this post will be updated to reflect the official date for The Greatest Showman on Amazon Video/Blu-ray/DVD.
