One chapter ends while another begins with the latest Doctor Who Christmas special that is now streaming on Amazon Video.

If you didn’t get a chance to watch the Doctor Who Christmas special live because you were unwrapping Christmas presents or otherwise busy with family duties, you’re in luck. Now, the Doctor Who Christmas special is available on Amazon Video.

Twice Upon A Time is available for purchase at the low price of $2.99.

The Doctor Who Christmas episodes are special in their own right, but this one was extra special as it spelled the end for Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and ushered in a new era. In fact, it was an unprecedented episode as the new Doctor is played by Jodie Whitaker, marking the first time a woman has played the famous Doctor.

Below you can read Amazon’s synopsis for the Doctor Who Christmas special.

"“Two Doctors stranded in a forbidding snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. And a British army captain seemingly destined to die in the First World War, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story. This is the magical last chapter in the Twelfth Doctor’s epic adventure. He must face his past to decide his future.”"

I won’t reveal any other spoilers from the episode because you should totally watch the episode as soon as you have the time. But considering the torch would be passed from the 12th Doctor to the lucky 13th Doctor, I’m not really spoiling anything there, so let’s talk a little more about that.

When the news was revealed that Whittaker was going to take over, there was a bit of a backlash from fans who, for some reason, couldn’t grasp there would be a woman taking over the role that has only been played by men. Such a silly reason and it’s my hope that those who had cold feet have changed their tune after seeing Whittaker’s brilliant performance.

We can share this clip of the 12th Doctor passing the torch to the 13th below.

Told you it was brilliant!
