Save the date for the series premiere of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams coming to Amazon Prime Video in January.

There is some momentum behind Amazon Prime Video and the type of programming they have coming for the first time in a long time. On the heels of the announcement for a Lord of the Rings series and before the highly-anticipated premiere of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Nov. 29, Amazon has now set the premiere date for Philip K. Dick’s anthology series Electric Dreams.

The 10-hour series will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 12. This marks the second adaptation of a Philip K. Dick work, joining The Man in the High Castle, the most-watched show in the history of Amazon Prime Video. Hopefully, Electric Dreams will follow suit and entertain audiences and bring in new subscribers just like that show has done.

The anthology series features 10 episodes that feature stars like Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi,

Terrence Howard,

Greg Kinnear, Anna Paquin,

Maura Tierney and Janelle Monáe, among others. Each episode will be set between 500 and 5,000 years in the future and focus on the differing levels of mankind and the “significance of humanity,” according to Amazon.

It sounds a little bit like Netflix’s Emmy-winning anthology series Black Mirror that brings a futuristic angle while each episode focuses on the human complex and our relationships with ourselves and with one another.

I’m definitely excited to see what Electric Dreams brings to the TV landscape and I hope it can be a big draw for fans to Amazon Video. There are a lot of great shows on the service that not many people know about, so fi they come for Electric Dreams, I hope they’ll stay and discover other shows like Catastrophe, Mozart in the Jungle, Bosch and others.

“We’re excited to share the fantastical world of Philip K. Dick as it’s never been experienced before,” said Brad Beale of Amazon Prime Video in a news release, via Geekwire. “With the combined creative genius behind this series, as well as the stellar cast and visually compelling locations, every episode of this sci-fi anthology is sure to be an entertaining experience for our Prime members.”
