Manchester City series coming to Amazon Prime Video
Amazon will deliver a behind the scenes look at Manchester City in an upcoming series about the popular and successful team from the Premier League.
Amazon continues to deliver programming for sports fans. As Amazon continues to makeover the types of programming their studio will produce and deliver to Prime members, one area that is getting more and more traction is their foray into sports. The latest move sees Amazon secure a series that will follow Manchester City’s 2017 season as they look to dethrone Chelsea in the Premier League.
The soccer club, or football, if you will, doesn’t have a title for the series yet, but will follow the current season and will air at a yet-to-be-determined date in 2018 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. This should help Amazon acquire more memberships from people living abroad as well as the Man City fans living stateside.
This is all very exciting for their fans and for fans of the sport as it’ll provide never before seen footage that should make for a fun and interesting watch.
"Heather Schuster, head of unscripted, Amazon Originals, tells Variety: “The story behind the coaches and players is fascinating and we are very excited to work with the Manchester City team to deliver an exclusive all-access experience to our Prime members.”"
Manchester City is off to a great start this season, so that also makes for compelling television, but it’s not just the product on the pitch that will be featured prominently in the series. The season will also show what’s going on in the boardrooms where Manchester CEO Ferran Soriano, owner Sheikh Mansour and other executives will be seen as fans get to see what’s going on behind closed doors.
"Ferran Soriano, CEO of Manchester City, said, via Variety: “This is an extremely exciting time for Manchester City, and through Amazon’s world-class service, we will be able to share it with football fans all over the world.”"
Manchester City’s series follows a new series that will follow this season of Michigan football and “All or Nothing” which has two seasons on Amazon that followed the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams.
If all of these programs are successful, fans should expect to see Amazon continue to tap into the sports genre and deliver more programming to satisfy their never-ending thirst for sports.
