Amazon and Funny or Die should be a fruitful partnership
Amazon is teaming up with Funny or Die to deliver hilarious content for Prime members.
Amazon is strengthening their relationship with Funny or Die based on the success of Justin Long’s mini-series, The Real Stephen Blatt, according to Variety. According to the report, Amazon is funding the production of three comedy shorts that will make their premiere on Prime Video in November.
This is an exciting time for Funny or Die as they continue to expand their original content from digital shorts like Between Two Ferns hosted by Zach Galifinaikis or the older shorts that featured Will Ferrell back at the onset of the website to full-blown feature shows. Earlier this fall, Funny or Die delivered the eight-part crime satire series American Vandal on Netflix. The series was a hilarious spoof on the documentaries like Making a Murderer but instead of the crime being something very serious, like a murder or missing person, etc, American Vandal was about a high school student known for being a bit of a troublemaker who gets accused of spraypainting a bunch of d***s on the cars of the faculty. He ends up getting expelled and that kicks off an investigation into finding the real culprit that drew the d***s.
You may think that’s awfully silly, and that’s the whole point, and the viewers loved it, making American Vandal one of the most popular binge-watches since it premiered.

Amazon is hoping they will get an American Vandal of their own with this extended partnership with Funny or Die. Amazon is under orders from Jeff Bezos to makeover their content and shift the focus from niche shows to shows that have widespread appeal. The call to find the “next Game of Thrones” is an impossible task for Amazon Studios, but a relationship with Funny or Die is sure to bring in a younger demographic that will stream the content and could stick around to see the other titles playing on Amazon Prime Video.
The first title from Funny or Die will premiere on Nov. 10.
