A list of five good shows to watch on Amazon Prime Video to make up for the Game of Thrones absence in your life!

Game of Thrones wrapped up its seventh season last week on HBO. If you’re like us, you now have a Game of Thrones-sized hole in your Sunday schedule. We have picked five shows to watch on Amazon Prime Video to help fill your Sundays with TV joy.

The shows listed below are not as good as Game of Thrones; that’s for sure. You should be able to enjoy them, though, and that’s what’s important.

Let’s get the list started with Vikings!

Vikings

Created by Michael Hirst, Vikings premiered on the History Channel in 2013. The series tells the story of the Norseman Ragnar Lothbrok and his band of Vikings as they live and raid nearby villages.

Travis Fimmel stars in the series along with Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Jessalyn Gilsig, Gustaf Skarsgård and more great actors and actresses.

Vikings is a lot different from Game of Thrones; I feel like that goes without saying. It’s still a really good series, and I think you’ll like it if you like Game of Thrones. Viking lore is also a huge part of the series, and that adds a really interesting element Game of Thrones fans should enjoy.

There are four seasons of the series on Prime Video, and more seasons are on the way.

Rome

If you like the politics and landscape of the Roman Empire, HBO’s Rome is the show for you. Rome tells the story of Julius Caesar’s rise to power in the ancient city.

Like Game of Thrones, Rome has many of the same elements of the typical HBO drama series. There’s a lot of fighting and sex, and for many viewers, that probably adds to the intrigue of this series.

Rome wasn’t around for long though. HBO canceled the series after two seasons. Those two seasons of Rome are streaming on Prime Video, so you only have 22 episodes of the series to watch.

Deadwood

Set in the late 1800s in Deadwood, South Dakota, Deadwood tells the story of the town during its transition with the growth of Western expansion.

The series was created by David Milch and premiered on HBO in 2004. The series ran for three seasons through 2006. Timothy Olyphant starred in the series along with Ian McShane, Kim Dickens, Anna Gunn, Garret Dillahunt and Titus Welliver, of Amazon’s Bosch.

Like Rome and Game of Thrones, Deadwood uses some of the same elements that made Game of Thrones such a successful series — along with a whole bunch of F-bombs. There are only three seasons and 36 episodes of Deadwood on Prime Video, but it will surely keep you preoccupied for a while.

True Blood

True Blood is probably our biggest stretch on this list. Game of Thrones fans might like True Blood, but it also might be a little too far out there, if you know what I mean.

The series focuses on a group of vampires in Louisiana who have revealed themselves to the public. Then, they must try to coexist with society. The series was created by Alan Ball and was a huge success upon its release in 2008. The show ran for seven seasons through 2014.

All seven of those seasons are now streaming on Prime Video. If you like vampires, this is the show you need to see!

The White Queen

The White Queen is a U.K. series that is not very well known stateside despite a run on Starz in 2013. The series consists of one, 10-episode season.

In The White Queen, several rival houses battle for the throne in 1400s England. Three women have a claim to the throne, and they try to do what they can to achieve power.

There are a few similarities between The White Queen and Game of Thrones. Remove all the magical and fantasy elements of Game of Thrones, and you probably have a series that looks a lot like The White Queen.

The series has a huge cast and stars Juliet Aubrey, Veerle Baetens, Aneurin Barnard and Leo Bill.
