Game of Thrones returns Sunday night with the fifth episode of their seventh season and viewers will be able to get closure to that cliffhanger ending from the previous week. Last week’s episode saw one of the best battle sequences in series history after Daenerys flew Drogon into battle against the Lannister army and her dragon breathed fire onto the soldiers and left a trail of ashes in its wake.
Bronn tried to stop Drogon from killing everything and fired off a bolt from the dragon crossbow. He was able to land his shot and Drogon flew down to the ground where Dany tried to remove the bolt from her dragon’s chest/shoulder area. As she did that, Jaime saw an opening to attack the Mother of Dragons but just as he approached, Drogon turned his head around and shot out a breath of fire just as Bronn tackled Jaime into the nearby body of water.
Could Jaime be dead? Could Bronn be the one who took the brunt of the fire and be the one who’s dead? I don’t think either is dead, at least not yet. I expect the fifth episode will open with Jaime and Bronn prisoners of Dany and Tyrion Lannister left with a difficult decision. Jaime once freed Tyrion and now he could be faced with the same dilemma, although at what cost?

Beyond this war is the bigger war between the living and the dead and we should get our first real glimpse at the Night King and his army of White Walkers. Earlier this season we learned the Night King was headed toward Eastwatch. Considering the episode is titled “Eastwatch” we should finally get some storylines advancing this part of the story. The preview below shows a scene where the army of the dead is as massive as it has ever been and that could spell doom for Tormund Giantsbane who volunteered to head off to Eastwatch earlier in the season.
