1. “New Man”

Our number one! Why did I choose New Man to come out on top over so many amazing songs? Did you recognize the style of song this was?

According to a report from Glamour UK, Ed wrote this song to describe his personal thoughts on an ex moving on with another man. Ed thought the girl had changed dramatically and wanted to use the piece for a song. But why is it no. 1 worthy?

The Feels: We all need that post-breakup jam that reminds us that we are just as amazing as we think we are. We don’t need them anymore, but it is a good reminder to watch who you are around. Are you changing for a relationship? Ed challenges that idea in the song.

The Lyrics: I find myself cracking up at Ed’s description of the new guy and his muscular, purse-wearing, freshly plucked eyebrow self. Ed does a superb job creating a mental image of this new, modern guy.

The Beat: Did this beat sound familiar? This style of song is super close to the Jesse McCartney era of music my inner child loves. I enjoyed the early 2000s feeling of music in this song, so it tops off the list at one.
