50 Best Comedy TV on Amazon Prime: Catastrophe moving up

Updated ranking of the 50 best comedy TV shows on Amazon Prime, including a big move up the list from Amazon Original show Catastrophe.

If you are an Amazon Prime member and not watching Catastrophe, you are not getting the most out of your membership. Catastrophe is the funniest Amazon Original show, by far, and is a must-watch. Catastrophe moves up with our latest update and is closing in on the top spot on our ranking of the 50 best comedy TV shows on Amazon Prime.

Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney headline the cast as Sharon Morris and Rob Norris who have a romantic rendezvous with Rob spending a week in London on work. It was more than a one-night stand and the two really hit it off. Fast forward a month later and Sharon calls Rob, who is on a date, and tells him she’s pregnant. Rob hops on a plane to be with his London fling and the two get to know each other while they go through the drama of being pregnant together.

Rob and Sharon pick up where they left off and there is so much chemistry between the two. This wasn’t just a drunken one-night/week stand for the two and it looks like they genuinely could make this work. Of course, there are challenges, especially with the pregnancy after a visit to the doctor reveals some potential complications and risk factors. But they’re together and they can make this work, even if it means some nagging and complaining from both parties and skepticism from friends and family.

I never saw Horgan or Delaney in anything prior to Catastrophe, but now I want them in everything. Horgan is the Irish version of Tina Fey or Julia Louis-Dreyfus and an absolute delight. She’s quick-witted, sharp, hilarious, beautiful and so likable. Delaney is the perfect pair that I can’t imagine any other actor playing the part. It’s such a wonderful TV marriage.

The first two seasons are currently on Prime and each season consists of six half-hour episodes. It makes for a fantastic binge-watch so you can watch a season in one sitting. Catastrophe season 3 premieres on April 28, so make sure you watch before then.
