Amazon announces their pilot lineup for the spring 2017 Amazon pilot season including Oasis, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and more!

Amazon has five new shows they are ready for their Prime members to see and vote on. According to a report from Variety, Amazon has announced five new pilots that will be released on Amazon Prime Video on March 17.

Variety reported the list of the new Amazon pilots, and we have shared the titles and a brief synopsis of the shows below, via Variety:

The New V.I.P.s:  This show is a 30-minute adult comedy program created by Steve Dildarian and starring Ben Schwartz of Parks and Recreation, Jonathan Adams, Missi Pyle, and Matt Braughner. In the series, employees of a major company kill their boss and decide to run the company.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Created by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel focuses on a young woman who decides to take on the world of stand-up comedy in the 1950s, despite being a mother of two kids and a housewife. Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen, Marin Hinkle, and Tony Shalhoub star in the show.

Budding Prospects: Set in the 80s, a group of friends from the Bay Area move to the middle of nowhere to grow marijuana, but it’s not as easy as they thought it would be, according to Variety. The show stars Joel David Moore, Brett Gelman, Adam Rose, and Will Sasso.

The Legend of Master Legend: If you like superhero shows, this is the new pilot for you! In the show, a man tries to fight crime in Las Vegas and be hero. John Hawkes, Shea Whigham, Anjelika Washington, and Dawnn Lewis star in the show.

Oasis: Based on Michael Faber’s The Book of Strange New Things, Oasis tells the story of a group of people who try to colonize a new planet. Matt Charman created the show, and Richard Madden, Mark Addy, Anil Kapoor, Antje Traue, Haley Joel Osment, Zawe Ashton, and Michael Schaffer star in the series. Of all the new pilots, this one is surely getting a full season order at Amazon!

Overall, it looks like there is potential for one of these shows to be Amazon’s next big show. As you know, they have a great track record for producing high-quality and award-winning TV over the last several years. I don’t know if there is another Transparent or Mozart in the Jungle in this pilot group, but I have a feeling all five shows could get picked up for a full season run.

Having not seen the series, I don’t know which ones are good or not. I think Amazon will definitely pick up, at least, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The New V.I.P.s, and Oasis, although all of the shows sounds great.

If you are a Prime member or Prime Video subscriber, you can come back to Amazon Prime Video and watch the pilots beginning on March 17. If you watch any of the shows, make sure you let Amazon know what you think, especially if you like the show and want to see more of it. Amazon relies on this data to decide whether or not to give these shows season orders. Almost all of their shows have gone through this process.
