This Week’s New DVD Releases: Manchester by the Sea, Hacksaw Ridge, more
This week’s new DVD releases includes two of the best movies of the last year with the pending releases of Hacksaw Ridge and Manchester by the Sea.
Your DVD collection could be growing larger this week with some fantastic new DVD/Blu-ray releases on Tuesday. The headliner of the new DVD releases is Manchester by the Sea, which received six Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture.
Manchester by the Sea is one of the best movies of the last year and stars Casey Affleck, who won the Golden Globe and is nominated for an Oscar, as a man who assumes custody of his nephew after the sudden passing of his brother. Michelle Williams and Kyle Chandler also star in the movie directed by Kenneth Lonergan. This is a must-own for movie buffs.
Another movie nominated for Best Picture that will be released on Tuesday is Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Mel Gibson. Like Manchester by the Sea, Hacksaw Ridge received six Oscar nominations, including nominations for Garfield and Gibson. Before the Oscars air next Sunday, you can watch both these movies to get you in the spirit of the Academy Awards.

Other notable movies being released on DVD this week include Bad Santa 2 and Elle.
From the TV side, the Netflix series Grace and Frankie season 2 will be released and just in time for fans to revisit the series before season 3 is released on Netflix on March 24. If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, this is the only other way to watch without getting the subscription. Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda star in the series.
Nashville season 4 also is released on Tuesday. The series that found a new home on CMT this year stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere.
The last notable new DVD release this week is Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio. Fans of Doctor Who are some of the most passionate I’ve come across, so I’m banking on them already pre-ordering the DVD on Amazon weeks ago.
