Come Valentine’s Day or any romantic movie marathon, films based on Nicholas Sparks novels are a must. They are invariably harmless little sobfests set in a coastal beach town where gorgeous people meet, fall in love, overcome tragedy, and live (mostly) happily ever after against all odds. The latest installment in the Sparks canon is The Choice.

Gabby (Teresa Palmer) movies next door to Travis (Benjamin Walker), resulting in them falling in love at first sight. Isn’t that always the way? Following a tumultuous turn of events that leads them into a relationship, Travis and Gabby experience love, tragedy, and all of the choices you have to make in between.

The Choice, while hitting all of the familiar beats of recent Nicholas Sparks dramas, tells a sweet story about the depths of love and the lengths one will go to make sure it lasts. If you have some tissues left over after your nine-millionth viewing of The Notebook, keep the tears flowing with The Choice.
