8. Juliana Escapes the New York Resistance
Episode 10, “Fallout”
Juliana ended her tumultuous journey this season with an intense escape sequence from the Resistance. As George Dixon prepared to evacuate Juliana to a safehouse, New York leader Susan sought revenge because Juliana caused Karen’s death in San Francisco. Juliana escaped the chokehold of the doorman and strangled Susan in a desperate struggle to the death. After Juliana exited the bar, she encountered George in a Nazi officer’s uniform.
Here, the comparisons between the Nazis and Resistance blurred the lines between who were the good guys in reality. Juliana decided to shoot George to protect Thomas and save her own life as well. Juliana’s actions echoed her choice to help Joe in the finale of Season 1. However, in this case, Juliana decided because her decision was the compassionate and right one while her decision to help Joe may have derived from her love for him.
Regardless, Juliana fought for her life in an epic struggle. She eliminated the corrupt leaders of the Resistance who acted as terrorists. She killed George to help fulfill Abendsen’s grand plan for the world to obtain some semblance of peace.
