7. Heusmann Announces the Japanese Assassinated Hitler

Episode 9, “Detonation”

On a broadcast aired around the world, Chancellor Heusmann officially announced the death of Adolf Hitler. At first, Hitler appeared to die due to natural causes, yet the doctors found poison in his blood stream upon further examination. Heusmann concluded that the Japanese assassinated Hitler. Therefore, the entire Reich viewed this violent mission as nothing other than an act of war.

Again, Heusmann seemed different from the other power-hungry leaders. He envisioned a brighter future where the world would flourish in an unprecedented state of peace. However, his method to obtain peace involved launching a nuclear war against the Japanese Empire, the only other global superpower. This war would ensure peace for the foreseeable future since no one could oppose the Nazis.

The broadcast struck individuals such as Smith and Kido around the world. The Japanese knew that they had no involvement in such affairs while other Nazis such as Smith possessed the same feelings that the Japanese would not commit such a heinous act. Nevertheless, Heusmann’s shocking address geared the Reich for war to pursue the plan set forth by Heydrich and his fellow conspirators.
