The Man in the High Castle built on the solid foundations which the first season set. The tense relations between the Japanese and Nazis place the world on a course for an all-out nuclear war. Additionally, the Resistance ramped its efforts to damage the Japanese in the Pacific states as well as the Nazis on the east coast.
Shifting to the characters, the second season provided much more development for its characters. Viewers received a glimpse into the complex decisions that Juliana, Frank, and Joe among others face in this cruel and twisted world. At certain points, clear bad guys such as Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith and Chief Inspector Kido did not seem all that bad. Every character possessed motivation for their actions as the show forced the viewer to answer difficult questions throughout the season.
Although The Man in the High Castle Season 2 hit a major bump with its handling of Joe Blake, The Man in the High Castle overcame this hurdle among a few others to establish itself as one of the most entertaining series of 2016. The mixture of history with science fiction blended together nicely to conduct a dystopian society which nearly came true if a few battles in World War II went in the opposite side’s favor.
