There are certainly plenty of traditional romantic comedy movies on this list, but Take Me Home doesn’t qualify in that regard. Director Sam Jaeger stars in his own film as Thom who forms a unique bond with Claire—played by Jaeger’s wife Amber—amidst incredibly unique circumstances as viewers follow them on their journey together.

Thom is a man down on his luck after he misses out on a job and gets kicked out of his apartment, leaving him with no other option than to drive around in his illegal taxi. That’s how he meets Claire, a woman who believers her husband is cheating on her and wants to get away, as she pays him to drive her across the country from New York to California.

The film features the obvious road trip tropes that you would imagine along with the delightful story of two strangers getting to know one another better along the ride. What results is a fantastically enjoyable film that leaves viewers smiling and feeling good inside. If you want a little indie flavor in your rom-coms, Take Me Home is the movie for you.
