7 Reasons Amazon’s Transparent is the best comedy on TV

Transparent has the awards to back it up!
While awards for TV and movies are basically pointless, it is the standard by which we judge shows and movies these days, for better or for worse.
After one season, Transparent is already on its way to being one of the most decorated comedies of all-time.
At the 72nd Annual Golden Globes, Transparent took home two Golden Globes, tied for the most on the evening. Transparent won the awards for Best TV Series- Comedy or Musical and Best Lead Actor in a TV Series- Comedy or Musical (Jeffrey Tambor).
At the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Transparent was one of the big winners of the night in the comedy categories. The series was nominated for awards in 11 categories.
Although the series “lost” to HBO’s Veep in the Best Comedy category, Transparent took home five Emmys:
- Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series (Jill Soloway)
- Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Jeffrey Tambor)
- Outstanding Costumes in a Contemporary Series
- Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music
- Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (Bradley Whitford)
We haven’t seen if Season 2 can replicate the success of the first season. If the first episode, which is already available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is any indication, Transparent should be in the running for all the big awards, and it should probably be the favorite.
I know I’ll be rooting for it!
