11. The acting is fantastic

The performances in the first two episodes of The Man in the High Castle are fantastic!

So far, the series has focused on five main characters:

  • Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos)
  • Frank Frink (Rupert Evans)
  • Joe Blake (Luke Kleintank)
  • John Smith (Rufus Sewell)
  • Nobusuke Tagomi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa)

And, all of them are really, really, really good for a variety of reasons.

Although we have to suspend our disbelief to get into the series, the performances are believable. I can imagine those people in the roles and situations they have to overcome in the series. That also speaks to the great casting choices by the show’s creators and casting team of Candice Elzinga, Patti Carns Kalles, and Denise Chamian.

It’s only been two episodes, but there hasn’t been a moment so far where I’ve been pulled out of the story because of awkward dialogue or poor performances. That sounds stupid, but people underestimate how hard it is for an actor and the writing team to find a good match so early in a series.

If they can continue these performances, I think the cast might have some award nominations in their future.
